Christian Aid Week: 10th - 16th May 2026
Why take part in Christian Aid Week?
On Sunday 3rd May we are holding a special service of morning worship focusing on the theme of faithful action, as we prepare to take part in Christian Aid Week. Your support could help mothers in Nairobi, Kenya, facing the devastating reality of urban poverty and the daily struggle to feed their children.
Most parents wake every single day knowing that they must go and earn money, otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. Fridah knows this reality well. But she's determined to protect her grandchildren from hunger.
Through Christian Aid's partner, Beacon of Hope, Fridah has received tools, seeds and training to grow fresh vegetables in a small city space – food she can cook for her family or sell to earn income.

With seven days to make a difference, every gift and prayer counts.
Here is how your support could help someone like Fridah to grow food, protect their children from hunger, and nurture hope?
£5 could buy the seeds that kickstart a family’s nutritious vegetable garden.
£10 could pay for the pair of chickens that produce fertiliser for an urban farmer.
£15 could purchase the hand tools that mean an urban farmer can tend their crops.
£30 could buy the trio of cone garden planters that host hundreds of plants in a tiny city space.
Joint Service Celebration!
Palm Sunday saw us warmly welcomed to St Mary's Church, Ide Hill, for the first joint service of our new benefice. We met on the green and were delighted to take part in their annual donkey procession which of course began with plenty of opportunities to feed and stroke the beautiful donkeys. With palm crosses in hand we then followed their lead to the church. This was a wonderful experience and really brought the sermon to life as Jane Rosam led us in considering the powerful symbolism of the donkey within the story of Palm Sunday. As the service drew to a close we were treated to a report from the children attending "Forest Church" sharing what they had learned about Palm Sunday through crafts, conversations and importantly toasting marshmallows! We extend our thanks to everyone at St Mary's for such a fantastic morning and look forward to coming together for worship at our next joint service.

Croydon Male Voice Choir
On January 31st, we were pleased to host Croydon Male Voice Choir on behalf of The Brasted Heritage Trust.
The evening was very well attended with many returning guests and plenty of new faces coming together to enjoy a wonderful evening of choral music. We extend our thanks to the Choir and all those that joined us for this special musical event

Organ Bonanza
On Saturday 21st February we were joined by members of the churches in our united benefice, as well as visitors from father afield, all eager to find out how a pipe organ works. Some were brave enough to experiment, having a go and exploring the myriad of tone colours available on our very fine organ. There may have been some surprise however, that our own organ, built in 1992, had recognisable predecessors from the late fifteenth century. We learned that that the largest instrument in the world has 33,112 pipes compared to ours which has a mere 1,442! We also very much enjoyed a short recital given by Daniel Eaton, Director of Music of St. Mary’s Westerham.
