“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Support Your Local Church
At St Martin's we take the stewardship of money very seriously. We are extremely grateful for all financial gifts which will be used towards our running costs such as:
- General upkeep of the church, churchyard, and for our Services
- Our contribution to the Diocese of Rochester (to pay for things like paying our vicar, costs of the vicarage, training new ministers, safeguarding, upkeep of churches, etc.)
- Supporting our charitable partners, which includes local, national and international organisations with a Christian ethos.

Ways to give
Whether time, treasure or talents, there are many ways to give to your local church.
If you would like to know more about opportunities to volunteer your skills please contact our church wardens to explore the opportunities available.
If you are in a position to give financially, every gift makes a difference and we appreciate your consideration of what is the best way for you
Gift Aid
Whichever way you give, please fill out a Gift Aid Declaration available here and return to our Treasurer if you are a UK taxpayer. This enables us to claim back 25p from HMRC for every £1 given.
During a service
At every service there is an opportunity to make a financial offering. Donations in cash or by cheque can be placed in the offering purse which is circulated during the service. We also have a card machine available if you prefer to make a contactless donation.
Planned Giving
You can arrange a standing order from your bank account directly to the church account. Please contact our Treasurer who can provide you with the necessary details to do this

One-off Gifts

Simply place your giving into the offering purse which is circulated during the service or using the contactless payment machine at the back of the church.
If you would prefer to give by bank transfer Please contact our Treasurer who can provide you with the necessary details to do this.
Giving through your business
If you run your own business and choose to give through your company rather than as an individual, this is deducted from your profits before calculating your tax liability, so will reduce the Corporation Tax due. This is true whether your donation is in the form of money or goods-in-kind.
Legacy
For many people, leaving a gift in their will is a final opportunity to make a lasting gift to God. Gifts in wills to our church will help to fund our mission partners, maintain our beautiful church buildings and grow our church community. If you wish your Legacy to be put to a specific purpose, you can specify that in your will.
It may seem a long way away, but remember that giving after your death can be tax free too. Gifts to charity in a will are tax exempt and can be used to bring an estate below the threshold for inheritance tax. If you give more than 10% of your estate, it will reduce the inheritance tax rate too. You can give items of value, such as jewellery, as well as money.
Details of how to plan for legacy giving are available on the Church of England website or by contacting our church wardens.
